My husband and I were pondering the amazing faithfulness of God as we drove to work the other morning. Not only is He faithful in all circumstances, but sometimes His ways are so subtle and mysterious that they are not apparent as such until after the fact.
Many of you know that making the decision over which medical specialist to see was greatly puzzling and confusing for us. The controvery over Lyme disease presents a significant amount of dilemna for a patient. Because of the great confusion and debate over the appropriate treatment of such diseases, my husband and I were forced into a furious research project over the issue. We learned more about Lyme disease, possible treatment options and the corresponding risks in a 48 hour period then we thought possible. We did not realize how helpful this information would be until we began sorting through the informed consent from the specialist's office the day before the initial appointment. As we poured over the information and treatment options we would be required to make, we were amazed that nothing took us by surprise. We were sober as we deeply considered what was best. However, we both commented later that were it not for our crash course in tick-borne diseases that ensued the prior week we would have felt overwhelmed and greatly uncertain of which path to take.
As I mused over such circumstances I recognized that our week of confusion that seemed very stressful was certainly not in vain. Had God made the appropriate choice for a physician obvious from the beginning, we never would have embarked on such a thorough journey of information. However, the confusion led us to a process that prepared us for a decision we did not know we would have to make. Praise God that even in the confusing times He is providing for His children. I am thankful that as we look to Him we can see His strong and faithful hand of guidance, provision and protection. Such provision brings great peace!
